DAYLIGHT SAVINGS
"the time has been changed due to daylight savings. please check that the tiime is correct."
this was the first thing that greeted me when i started my laptop... daylight savings???? i know it's coming, but how does my computer know the exact time and day to update
itself??? i;m very baffled.. and i feel like i'm that little boy in steven spielberg's A.I.... computers have become smarter than humans... what has the world come to?? computers process stats faster,beat chess masters hands down etc... the general concept that computers are apathic is wrong too.. my laptop throws tantrums all the time... it slows when it's been worked too hard for too long, it hangs and goes to sleep whenever it wants to... it doesn't have to look for food cos i'm constantly feeding it with electrically charged juice...
this is getting scary... the biggest irony of the century is not bush pushing for world peace by riddling iraq with bombs; it's the fact that technology is moving too fast for our comfort, but yet we are too dependent on it to halt its advancement, and too greedy to want to stop exploiting this fantastic resource to the fullest.. just like everything else...
